Hello! I'm Erica Kawamoto Hsu, a photographer and editor of tech/candid, a blog featuring candid coverage of major tech startup conferences and events in Tokyo, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

I grew up in Los Angeles studying visual arts: figure drawing, black + white darkroom photography, and digital media. I received my B.A. from UC Berkeley. After living abroad in Taipei for 2 years, I produced live webinars and interactive summits for a fast-growing online media startup, trained at the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) in video and digital arts, and produced marketing and social media for a premier photography agency in San Francisco. While living in Yokohama, I led social media strategy and execution for Women in Technology Japan (WITJ) as the VP of social media.

In 2010, I created Kuishimbo to share photographs I've taken of delicious local food and culture in cities such as Berlin, Kaohsiung, Oakland, and Yokohama. I also shot fly project TV, a video and multimedia project featuring interviews with my peers who are building non-traditional career paths in fields they are passionate about.

I've shot major conferences and events for Women 2.0, MEGA Startup Weekend, TechZulu, REACH, 30 Miles North, Downtown Women's Center, Karlin Ventures, At the Helm: Women in Biz, Built in LA, 4WT Media, Startup World, Donna + Nailah, and Physicians' Education Resource (PER®).

I'm currently creating multimedia stories using photography, podcasts, and video for fly project TV.
